The Chinese automobile manufacturer, BYD Auto, has unveiled its latest offering – the BYD Seal, a sport compact sedan that promises a blend of style, comfort, and performance.
The BYD Seal's exterior design takes inspiration from an ocean theme, with deliberately styled lines and a gloss black splitter on the front bonnet. The exterior seeps sportiness, offering a crisp turn-in and Continental sport contact seven tires for excellent grip. The rear multi-link suspension and dampening ensure a smooth and calm ride, even on urban roads and highways.
Inside, the BYD Seal offers a luxurious interior with microsuede and quilted leather. The front seats provide great support while cornering, and come with heat and ventilation as standard, except on the lowest trim. The driver's seat offers 8-way adjustment with 4-way lumbar, while the passenger seat has 6-way adjustment.
The BYD Seal's driving dynamics are considered its strongest trait, with a double wishbone up front and direct & precise steering. The vehicle is quiet at highway cruising speeds, making for a comfortable and peaceful driving experience.
The BYD Seal offers two battery sizes: a 61.4kWh pack and an 82.5kWh pack. The larger pack offers a range of 700km, making it an ideal choice for long-distance travel. The test car, the long-range version equipped with a single rear motor, achieved a claimed 5.9s to 100kph.
In terms of technology, the BYD Seal's infotainment system allows setting home charging costs per kWh, and the vehicle is equipped with BYD's Dipilot system, a level 2 vision-based ADAS system comparable to other offerings from competitors.
The rear bench of the BYD Seal is clad in quilted leather and slightly angled backward for comfort. The vehicle offers 320L of trunk space with the rear seats up, providing ample room for luggage and other items.
The AWD performance version of the BYD Seal, with 390kW and 670Nm, is expected to zip to 100kph in 3.8s, offering an exhilarating driving experience.
