Investigation

Car manufacturer Chery has imitated the Spark design for the QQ model, and now Haima is following suit with the QQ for the Prince model. Seemingly a case of imitation being the sincerest form of flattery in the automobile industry, as the visuals are obtained directly from their counterparts.

Investigation

The automotive industry is abuzz with anticipation as Haima, a Chinese automaker, prepares to unveil its latest offering – the Prince. Scheduled to debut at the Beijing Auto Show at the end of April, the Prince is a new model that shares some similarities with Haima's earlier creation, the QQ.

According to recent reports, the Prince will be available for purchase soon. The vehicle boasts a wheelbase of 2332mm and dimensions of 3590mm in length, 1540mm in width, and 1486mm in height. The engine of the Prince produces 47.5kw at 5600rpm and generates 83nm of torque between 3000-3500rpm.

One of the standout features of the Prince is its interchangeable doorhandles and side panels with the QQ, as well as the mirrors. This design decision is based on the QQ, but Haima has added some blacked-out panels around the rear window to give the Prince a more royal look.

The Prince is not designed for racing, but is suitable for daily commuting. The M1 prototype of the Prince has already been seen, hinting at its imminent arrival.

Interestingly, the Prince is a result of Haima's partnership with Chery. Haima leveraged Chery's established automotive technology for the Prince, and reverted to earlier Chery and Mazda designs due to cost-saving measures and delays in developing independent platforms.

Despite the similarities with the QQ, the decision to make the Prince's design similar to the QQ is seen as a step back by some, as the brand was previously moving towards more original design.

The Prince is expected to be priced slightly lower than the QQ, at approximately 35,000 RMB. Pictures of the Prince were taken at the Haima factory on Hainan Island.

Additionally, a Crossover version of the Prince is expected to follow. However, no new information is provided about the Haima EX00 minivan, NIO EC7, or any potential impact on Haima's financial situation through ride-hailing services.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Haima Prince as we approach its debut at the Beijing Auto Show.
