Investigation
The Beijing Auto B61, a new model under the Beijing Motor brand (Beijing Auto or BAIC), has made its debut as a concept at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2010. However, no information about its release date has been disclosed yet.
The B61 shares the same size and stands on the same platform as the 007 SUV, another model from BAIC, but the two vehicles have distinct appearances. While the 007 boasts a more rugged appearance, suggesting it is designed for off-roading, the B61 appears more sporty and urban.
Both the B61 and the 007 are developed by the same corporation, BAIC, and were seen testing on snowy roads in Beijing's northern suburbs. The B61 will be sold as Beijing Auto (aka Beiqi), while the 007 will be sold as BAW (Beijing Auto Works).
The B61 will be equipped with a 2.4 four-cylinder engine, capable of producing a power output of 141hp and a maximum torque of 217nm. It will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
It's worth noting that the B61 is a separate model from the Arcfox Alpha S5, BJ60, and BJ30 SUVs. Despite some speculation, there are no relevant search results providing information about who will sell the Beijing Auto B61 in China while the 007 is sold.
In summary, the Beijing Auto B61 is an upcoming urban-sporty SUV from BAIC, sharing the same platform as the 007 but with a different design and powertrain. More details about its release date are anticipated.
