In the chilling world of cyberbullying, a 13-year-old girl named Lauryn Licari found herself the victim of a harrowing ordeal. This heart-wrenching tale is the focus of the new Netflix documentary, "Unknown Number: The High School Catfish."

Directed by Skye Borgman, the documentary sheds light on Lauryn's harrowing experience of being bullied, harassed, and stalked via anonymous texts for over a year. The texts contained personal attacks on her appearance, weight, and basketball performance, and referenced specific details from her life. At times, the texts were shockingly sexual, with the sender taunting Lauryn for not satisfying her then-boyfriend sexually. Worse still, the texts called for Lauryn to "kill herself."

The identity of the stalker was eventually revealed to be none other than Lauryn's own mother, Kendra Licari. An FBI investigation unmasked Kendra, leading to her arrest in December 2022. She pleaded guilty to two counts of stalking a minor and was sentenced to 19 months to 5 years in prison.

Kendra Licari is currently on parole until August 2026, and her whereabouts have been a topic of speculation. Contrary to popular belief, Kendra is not living in London as previously reported, but is residing in Pontiac, a suburb north of Detroit, Michigan.

Lauryn and her boyfriend, Owen, graduated from high school in May, but the repercussions of Kendra's actions have left a lasting impact. Lauryn wishes to rebuild a relationship with her mother, but Kendra has little to no contact with her daughter.

Skye Borgman had a long process to convince Kendra to participate in the documentary. Despite this, Kendra agreed to appear in the documentary to directly answer questions about the case from her own perspective. Shawn, Kendra's ex-husband, received full custody of Lauryn in 2025.

"Unknown Number: The High School Catfish" is produced by Ross M. Dinerstein and Rebecca Evans, and executive produced by Borgman, Ross Girard, Tom Forman, David Metzler, Justin Sprague, and Alysia Sofios, via their Campfire Films production. The documentary serves as a stark reminder of the devastating effects of cyberbullying and the importance of seeking help when faced with such situations.
