Investigative Discussion with Mathew Bowyer Regarding Shohei Ohtani and Ippei Mizuhara's Alleged Sports Betting Controversy

In a recent interview on the "A Numbers Game" podcast, Mathew Bowyer, a former bookie, opened up about his past dealings with Ippei Mizuhara, a former interpreter for baseball star Shohei Ohtani.

Bowyer met Mizuhara at a private poker game with Angels players and coaches, and it was during this encounter that he began facilitating bets for Mizuhara. According to Bowyer, he initially extended a credit line of $8,000 to Mizuhara, with a maximum bet of $1,000 per game. However, this amount soon escalated, with Bowyer later extending Mizuhara's credit to $40,000, then $300,000, then $500,000, and eventually out to $40 million, with a maximum of $100,000 per game.

It's important to note that Ippei Mizuhara is currently serving a 57-month prison sentence in Pennsylvania for bank fraud and submitting a false tax return. The interview did not reveal whether Ohtani was involved in the betting activities, but Bowyer expressed his belief that Ohtani was aware of Mizuhara's gambling or financial activities.

The interview discussed what Bowyer believes Ohtani knew about the large sports betting action, but it did not provide specific details. Shohei Ohtani is not believed to have made any wagers, according to Mathew Bowyer.

The discussion about Bowyer's past dealings with Mizuhara comes at a time when the world of sports betting is expanding. The "Biggest Names in Gambling" have joined VSiN's sports betting podcast network with the launch of "Fade Us Sports". The FanDuel Sports Network and VSiN have partnered to bring sports betting content to fans nationwide.

Mathew Bowyer's new book, Recalibrate, is available on Amazon and other book retailers, offering a deeper look into his life and experiences in the world of gambling. Despite his past, Bowyer seems to have found a new path, using his experiences to share insights and lessons with others.
