Investment firm Partners Group brings on board industry expert Tarak Mehta to jointly lead their Goods & Products private equity division.
Partners Group, a leading global private markets firm, has announced the appointment of Tarak Mehta as Partner and Co-Head of its Private Equity Goods & Products vertical.
With over 25 years of industrial leadership experience, Mehta brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. Most recently, he served as CEO of the US-based Timken Company, a global industrial leader in engineered bearings and power transmission products. Before that, he was a long-standing executive committee member at ABB, a Swiss industrial giant.
Mehta will co-lead the vertical with Manas Tandon, and they will be based at Partners Group's headquarters in Switzerland. The Goods & Products vertical, which manages $83bn as part of Partners Group's wider $174bn platform, focuses on scaling mid-market businesses through organic and acquisition-led growth.
The approach of Partners Group in private markets investing reflects an industrial focus. Close collaboration with management teams is a key focus, and the firm aims to drive fundamental value creation across portfolio companies. This entrepreneurial culture is a key differentiating factor, according to Mehta, who emphasizes the value creation approach at Partners Group.
In the past year, the Goods & Products vertical has invested in MPM Products, Velvet Care, and SureWerx. These investments are part of the vertical's strategy to build market-leading companies with strong operational frameworks and growth strategies.
Wolf Scheider, Head of Private Equity at Partners Group, believes Mehta's experience managing large, complex industrial businesses across different continents will be valuable in achieving this goal.
