Iraqi Individual Aims to Govern Rübenau/Kalek Border Crossing
On August 7, 2025, a significant incident occurred at the Rübenau/ Kalek border crossing between Germany and the Czech Republic. A joint task force of state police and federal police attempted to inspect a vehicle with German license plates.
The vehicle, driven by a 37-year-old Iraqi national with a valid residence permit for Germany, was found to be carrying five other individuals – two Iraqis aged 18 and 19, an 18-year-old Syrian national, and another unidentified individual. However, none of the other occupants could present documents legitimizing their stay in Germany.
Under the German-Czech police agreement, a chase was initiated, and the vehicle was stopped shortly after the border on Czech territory. The Czech alien police took all persons from the vehicle over on the spot. The individuals were transported to Chomutov for further processing.
The vehicle, having seen the signals from the civilian task force, was driven back towards the Czech Republic. The investigations for this incident are being conducted by the Federal Police Inspectorate Chemnitz.
The Federal Police Inspectorate Chemnitz, established in 2015, has been at the forefront of investigations into smuggling aliens, unauthorized entry into the federal territory, and unauthorized entry into the Federal Republic of Germany.
