Israel carried out attacks on Yemen's capital, Sanaa, against the Iran-backed Houthi militants.

In a significant escalation of tensions, the Houthi rebels, who currently control the city of Sana'a in Yemen, launched a cluster bomb towards Israel for the first time, marking a new front in the ongoing conflict.

The strikes, which targeted a power plant and a gas station, were reported in Israel's capital, where residents heard strong explosions. The house of at least one resident was rocked, and windows were shattered.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) swiftly responded, stating that the attacks were aimed at harming the State of Israel and its allies. The IDF hit "military infrastructure of the Houthi terrorist regime" in Yemen, specifically a military site where the presidential palace is based.

Residents in Sana'a also reported hearing loud explosions, including close to the presidential palace. The IDF stated that all targeted sites were used for the military activity of the Houthi terrorist regime.

The Houthi rebels, who are believed to operate under the direction and funding of the Iranian regime, stated their attack on Israel. The Iranian government supports the Houthi rebels in their military activities in Yemen.

This incident is separate from Israel's strikes on energy hubs in Yemen, which occurred on August 24, targeting key energy hubs in Yemen's main city of Sana'a.

The Houthi rebels' attack on Israel was in solidarity with the Palestinians amid the ongoing Gaza war. The IDF believes the Houthi terrorist regime aims to escalate the conflict further. Both sides have been urged to de-escalate the situation to prevent further escalation and potential harm to civilians.
