Israeli Authorities Allegedly Treat Starvation of Palestinians as a Form of Entertainment

In the ongoing conflict in Gaza, a dire humanitarian crisis is unfolding, with civilian casualties reaching alarming levels.

According to recent reports, over half of the victims in the conflict are women and children under the age of 18. This tragic statistic underscores the devastating impact of the violence on the most vulnerable members of society.

The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has been providing essential aid to the region, but its operations have been marred by controversy. The selective operation schedule of the GHF has become a mechanism for entrapment, exposing civilians to predictable gunfire when they attempt to access food. This has turned aid centers into "death traps," as Israeli forces use lethal force, resulting in at least 549 deaths since May 27.

The pattern of restricted aid distribution in the south and total closure in the north suggests that Israel's policy is to weaponize food and create conditions for mass displacement. This is further evidenced by the fact that Israel shut aid crossings into the northern part of Gaza on Thursday, halting all aid deliveries and cutting off one of the few lifelines to civilians already at risk of starvation.

The war in Gaza has the highest ratio of civilian to combatant deaths of any modern conflict. The situation has become so dire that it meets the criteria for plausible genocide, according to international legal experts.

The UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) head, Philippe Lazzarini, has issued warnings that no place is safe in Gaza, and no one is spared. The UN and humanitarian groups now warn of imminent famine in Gaza.

The Israeli government's actions have been widely criticized. The UN Human Rights Office spokesperson, Thameen Al-Kheetan, condemned the GHF as a "cover for military operations," where aid seekers are routinely targeted for death. Observers argue that Israel's policy amounts to a calculated strategy to ethnically cleanse Gaza and push its population into Egypt.

Israeli soldiers have been ordered to open fire on unarmed Palestinian civilians in Gaza as they attempt to access food. This brutal tactic has been compared to a real-life version of the game "Squid Game" and referred to as "Operation Salted Fish" by the soldiers themselves.

Despite these alarming developments, no international organizations or groups have explicitly rejected or ignored calls for full and dignified humanitarian access for Gaza's residents. Multiple international actors, including 27 partners, UN agencies (FAO, UNICEF, WFP, WHO), and NGOs consistently call for immediate, unimpeded humanitarian access and criticize restrictions or blockades that worsen the situation.

As the conflict in Gaza continues, the world watches with growing concern, hoping for a swift end to the suffering and a return to peace and stability for the region.
