It's high time to strategize your health matters

In the heart of Valencia, Spain, Dr. Ilsen Canizares Arana, a specialist in medical hydrology and hydrotherapy, is making waves at the General Hospital. Over a year ago, genetic consultations, including screening for genetic risk pathologies and prevalent diseases, began at her health centre.

Born in Bolivia, Ilsen's journey to Spain was marked by a profound encounter with faith. As a teenager, she came to know Jesus through an evangelistic message broadcast on the radio. Today, her love for God, family, and profession is evident in every aspect of her life.

Ilsen emphasizes that many illnesses are the result of long-term inflammation. She cites examples such as headaches, digestive problems, and anxiety. Recognizing this, she starts planning her health from the age of 40, year by year, encouraging others to do the same.

Ilsen warns against the misconception that being busy leads to success. Instead, she stresses the importance of clarity and focus on priorities. She believes that it is in stillness and peace that God speaks and good ideas come.

In addition to her work at the hospital, Ilsen offers educational workshops on health issues at her church, Comunidad Cristiana Valentia, where she also serves as a Sunday school teacher. She practices Christian values in her personal and professional life, treating patients holistically, considering their personal lives and situations to better understand their pain.

Ilsen's work extends beyond the hospital walls. She is involved in a project that involves analyzing patients with pathological alterations of the genome, from primary diagnostics to pharmacogenetics. She is the head of the Primary Care Genetic Consultation at the General Hospital in Valencia.

Ilsen finds it encouraging that young people are aware of the importance of health planning. She believes that everyone should start planning their health from the age of 40, similar to planning annual agendas. She is capable of requesting genetic testing at the health centre where she works.

Ilsen also highlights the connection between the brain, gut, and microbiota in various pathologies. She believes that as professionals, they are called to bring their knowledge to the church for the benefit of the community. Love of God, family, and profession are important to Ilsen, and she encourages people to reflect on their life goals and aspirations.
