In an unexpected turn of events, the music world is buzzing about the unusual guitar swap between Jake Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet and Chris Turpin of Ida Mae, who have formed the new band Mirador.

It all started when Chris Turpin, in search of the perfect counterpart to his own guitar, "stole" Jake Kiszka's prestigious Number One Gibson SG - a 1961 vintage build. Jake, still on a quest for a guitar that can match the unique sound of his Number One, now finds himself playing Chris' 1970 Les Paul Custom, which he claims "sing[s] and marry[ies] perfectly well" with his prized Gibson.

Both musicians have been going to guitar shows, trying out various instruments, especially '61 SGs, to find a worthy equal to Kiszka's Number One Gibson SG. Their rigs, which include custom, one-of-a-kind Martin acoustic guitars and a Dumble-modded Marshall amp, have been a spectacle to behold, with Chris expressing admiration for the "spectacularly special" aspects of Jake's live rig.

The full interview with Chris Turpin and Jake Kiszka, discussing their unique musical setup and the formation of Mirador, is the cover story in the new issue of Guitarist magazine, which can be purchased at Magazines Direct.

Interestingly, the Les Paul Custom that Chris now owns was actually from Vintage 'n' Rare Guitars, and Chris felt an immediate connection with it during pre-production. Meanwhile, Dave Cobb, a renowned producer, made an unorthodox trade, procuring a Dumble-modded Marshall amp for an $80 kitchen gadget.

The formation of Mirador, consisting of these two talented guitarists, promises an exciting blend of their unique sounds and styles. As they continue their quest for the perfect guitar, music lovers can eagerly anticipate the music they will create together.
