Jake Paul has announced his planned bout with undefeated lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, boasting that he's an FPV drone in the ring.

In a surprising turn of events, social media sensation and professional boxer Jake Paul has announced that he will be squaring off against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis in an exhibition bout on November 14, 2023, at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.

The announcement comes after months of negotiations, with Shelly Finkel serving as the lead negotiator for both parties. The fight was initially planned for May 3 in Las Vegas against Canelo Alvarez, but that bout collapsed.

Paul, who is 12-1 in his career, with his only loss coming against Tommy Fury in 2023, earned himself a No.14 ranked spot in the WBA by beating ex-middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. This upcoming fight against Davis will mark a significant change in Paul's career trajectory.

Davis, who fights in the 9st 9lb lightweight division, faces a much larger opponent in Paul, who is a 200lb cruiserweight. Despite the size difference, the two have been trading barbs on social media, with Paul posting a message on Instagram stating that he is going to "kill David" and then "slaughter Goliath."

Netflix, which debuted in boxing last November when Paul beat Mike Tyson, is keen to score another knockout event with the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis fight. The streaming giant will no doubt be hoping for another viewing figure like the 100 million who tuned in to watch Paul take on Tyson, even though the fight with Davis will be an exhibition bout, not professionally-sanctioned.

Meanwhile, talks have been progressing for a wild heavyweight fight against Britain's two-time champion Anthony Joshua. Meetings between Paul's promotional partner Nakisa Bidarian and Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn took place in the UK and New York, but the proposed bout between Paul and Joshua was always targeted for 2026.

Davis, who was arrested in Miami Beach in July on assault charges, has since had the case dropped. However, his controversial draw in his WBA lightweight title fight against Lamont Roach scuppered plans for a bout with Paul.

Fans will be eagerly awaiting the highly-anticipated exhibition bout between Paul and Davis. With both fighters known for their aggressive styles and social media antics, this promises to be an exciting event.
