Jon Hopkins praises Abbey Road Studios collaboration: "Their work is remarkably impressive"
In a groundbreaking collaboration, luxury electric vehicle manufacturer Polestar has launched Abbey Road Studios Mode in the Polestar 3, an in-car sound mode co-developed by Abbey Road Studios and Bowers & Wilkins. This innovative feature aims to elevate the listening experience by replicating the sounds of Abbey Road Studios, one of the most iconic recording studios in the world.
At the heart of this project is Grammy-nominated composer Jon Hopkins, who was invited to create new music for the Intimate and Expansive presets of Abbey Road Studios Mode. Hopkins, no stranger to big collaborations and big ideas, found working on this project in one of the most famous rooms in music, Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios, to be a unique and special experience.
For the Intimate preset, Hopkins crafted a subtle, contemplative piece that evokes the quiet and private feeling of being in one of the studio's control rooms. On the other hand, the Expansive preset features a track that feels both vast and personal, capturing the sound of Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios.
In addition to Hopkins, rising jazz star corto.alto was also invited to create music in Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios. The challenge for corto.alto was to reimagine two of his most impactful tracks to showcase the new in-car listening experience of Abbey Road Studios Mode in Polestar 3. corto.alto found being in Studio Two cool, and felt fortunate to have played on one of the greatest pianos he's ever played, with all of the studio's expertise at his disposal.
Abbey Road Studios Mode offers four unique presets: Intimate, Expansive, Open, and Energised. Furthermore, a producer mode provides users with granular customisation over their audio experience. The Abbey Road Studios Mode is available exclusively with the Bowers & Wilkins audio system in Polestar 3.
The Abbey Road Studios Mode was first made available in the Polestar 3 in 2023, adding another layer of luxury and innovation to this already impressive electric vehicle. With its immersive sound experience, Polestar 3 is set to redefine the in-car listening experience, bringing the magic of Abbey Road Studios right into the driver's seat.
