Journalist Frédéric Haziza is filing a lawsuit against Jean-Luc Mélenchon for the alleged act of "doxing"

Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of La France Insoumise, has once again found himself embroiled in a public dispute, this time with journalist Frédéric Haziza from one of the Jewish community's radios, Radio J.

During a speech in the Drôme on August 22, as part of the party's summer universities, Mélenchon named Frédéric Haziza, accusing him of questioning people about his alleged anti-Semitism. This public naming is seen as intentionally putting a target on Frédéric Haziza and Radio J, according to the radio's statement.

The dispute between the two has been ongoing for some time. In June, Mélenchon accused Frédéric Haziza of spreading "Israel's embassy's arguments" in the National Assembly. Previously, LFI had already sued Radio J and Frédéric Haziza due to defamatory statements made by the former President of the Republican Spring, Amine El Khatmi, who called Mélenchon "anti-Semitic scum."

Frédéric Haziza responded to Mélenchon's accusations by filing a complaint against him on August 31 for the practice of "doxing." The complaint was seen by AFP. This practice, as defined by a 2024 law, involves revealing private information that puts the targeted person at risk.

Radio J firmly condemns the "unacceptable accusations" made against its journalist. In a statement, they asserted that Frédéric Haziza has always acted professionally and with integrity.

If Mélenchon's accusations against Frédéric Haziza are legally classified and convicted as doxing, he could face penalties under French law related to privacy violations and harassment. These penalties may include fines and imprisonment, but the specific sentence depends on the case details and applicable statutes.

When contacted by AFP, LFI has not reacted to Radio J's statement. The ongoing dispute between Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Frédéric Haziza continues to unfold, with both parties maintaining their respective positions.
