JPMorgan to Introduce Digital Private Banking Services in Germany
In the second quarter of 2026, JPMorgan Chase, a U.S. banking giant with over 85 million customers, will be making a significant move into the German market. The digital retail bank, named Chase, will be headquartered in Berlin, with plans to open its doors by the end of 2025.
Mark O'Donovan, the head of international retail banking at JPMorgan Chase, has stated that the digital bank is built on trust, innovation, and global expertise. He also emphasised that Chase is designed to be digital, simple, and advantageous. The bank's initial offering will include savings accounts, a popular product in Germany.
JPMorgan Chase has been active in Germany for nearly a century, primarily focusing on corporate and investment banking, as well as wealth management. With the launch of Chase, the bank aims to expand its services to retail customers in the country.
Daniel Llano Manibardo, the head of the international retail business for Germany, has expressed his excitement about the upcoming digital bank. He believes that Chase will bring a fresh approach to banking, offering customers a seamless and advantageous digital experience.
Prior to the digital retail bank launch, JPMorgan Chase has been active in the UK market since 2021 and serves over 2.5 million customers. The digital retail bank by JPMorgan Chase is the second European market, following the UK.
As of now, the person who will lead the German branch of Chase after the digital bank launches has not been explicitly named. JPMorgan Chase currently employs over 900 people in Germany.
