"K23pixel" Victories at the Welcome Event

Professional poker player Jenys, known online as "k23pixel," recently claimed victory in the inaugural tournament of the Regional Poker Tour (RPT) series held in Kapchagai, Kazakhstan. The competition, which attracted a wide range of players from across Central Asia, offered a buy-in of $150 and guaranteed a prize pool of $10,000.

In an exclusive interview, Jenys shared insights into their poker journey and their thoughts on the recent win. Having discovered poker approximately a decade ago while working as a programmer in a bank, Jenys gradually turned their hobby into a full-time profession around seven years ago, a decision made when their first child was on the way. Today, with three children, the eldest of whom has just finished first grade, Jenys expresses satisfaction with their choice.

While their using Kapchagay poker clubs for a living, Jenys spends four days a week there, combining offline and online play. Online poker primarily serves as a training tool for Jenys, as the skill level is higher compared to local clubs. The lower level in Kapchagay is attributed to the fact that poker is still in its nascent stages in the region, with the first tables only appearing two years ago. Nevertheless, Jenys was able to capitalize on the experience they gained in the RPT tournaments, which helped them secure the tournament win.

Despite the unexpected nature of participating in the Welcome Event, Jenys's strategic decision to register ultimately paid off. As the tournament unfolded, Jenys's poker friends began calling, seeking advice on the RPT at the Flamingo, which led five of them to join the event. Looking ahead, Jenys intends to participate in the RPT X-Factor and Main Event in the series, aiming for further success.

Throughout their career, Jenys has made a name for themselves by regularly participating in individual tournaments, international series, and cash games. Notably, in 2012, they won one of their first significant tournaments, becoming the champion of the Asian Poker Championship. Since then, Jenys has established a reputation as a respected and consistent poker player, drawing admiration from peers for their calm demeanor under pressure and adaptability across various tournament formats.

In the realm of regional poker, Jenys continues to serve as a valuable resource, engaging with emerging players online and working towards expanding their horizons by participating in larger international tournaments. By acting as an ambassador for poker in Kazakhstan, Jenys aims to further legitimize and popularize the game in the region.

Congratulations to Jenys on their impressive victory in the inaugural RPT tournament in Kapchagai. Keep an eye on their future exploits in both regional and international tournaments.

What about participating in the RPT X-Factor and Main Event, will you join those as well? Considering your recent success, it seems you have your eyes set on sports betting and casino-games such as poker and casino-and-gambling, especially given your intention to participate in larger international tournaments.
