Katja Burkard enters into matrimony
In a heartwarming ceremony held in a picturesque Austrian church, RTL presenter Katja Burkard officially married her long-time partner Hans Mahr on August 30. The couple, who have been together for nearly 30 years, exchanged vows in the presence of their two daughters and Hans' sons at the Himmelreich Chapel at Pogusch.
Katja Burkard wore a stunning white neckholder dress for the occasion, while the wedding was officiated by a priest. The couple's first dance as husband and wife was to the soulful tune of "At Last" by Etta James.
The wedding ceremony was a private affair, with no broadcast on RTL. However, Katja Burkard shared her joy on Instagram, writing, "We said YES and are very happy!" The newlyweds also posted an evening photo of themselves after the wedding, beaming with happiness.
A unique touch to the wedding was the absence of a traditional wedding cake. Instead, the couple served a delicious three-course meal at the reception. The wedding also saw a special moment as Katja Burkard's daughters were baptized in the small chapel during the ceremony.
Hans Mahr proposed to Katja Burkard in April on the Maldives, the same place where they plan to go for their honeymoon. The couple is looking forward to starting this new chapter of their lives together.
