Al Jazeera and Kazakhstan Discuss Collaboration and Cultural Exchange

In the heart of Astana, Kazakhstan, the Second Central Asian Media Forum is underway, and notable discussions are taking place. One such discussion involved Ruslan Zheldibai, Press Secretary of the President of Kazakhstan, who met with representatives from Al Jazeera Media Institute, Al Jazeera English, CGTN, and Ding Yun, Deputy Chief Editor of CGTN.

During the meeting, Zheldibai discussed the potential for joint training of journalists and other relevant specialists. The aim is to foster a deeper understanding and collaboration between the media organisations.

An exciting prospect that emerged from the discussion with Iman Al Amri, Director of Al Jazeera Media Institute, and Issa Al Ali, Managing Director of Al Jazeera English, was the possibility of opening an Al Jazeera bureau in Kazakhstan. This move, according to Zheldibai, would enable the creation of original news content about events in Kazakhstan and all of Central Asia.

The discussion with Ding Yun, Deputy Chief Editor of CGTN, focused on the wide coverage of friendly relations and the dynamics of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China. A joint TV project to enhance cultural exchange between the two nations was proposed. This project would also include the production of documentary series about the history, nature, and development of Kazakhstan.

Last year, during the state visit of the Head of State to Qatar, the Presidential Media Complex signed a cooperation memorandum with Al Jazeera. However, there is no information available in the search results about Iman Al Amri or the year of the signing of the cooperation memorandum between the Kazakh Presidential Media Complex and Al Jazeera.

Zheldibai also discussed prospects for media cooperation with Ding Yun, focusing on the wide coverage of friendly relations and the dynamics of strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China. The details of this cooperation are yet to be disclosed.

These discussions highlight the growing interest in media collaboration between Kazakhstan and international media organisations, aiming to strengthen ties, promote cultural exchange, and provide comprehensive coverage of events in the region.
