KBC Season 17 Witnesses a Scientist's Stumble on a ₹25 Lakh Question Answer
ISRO Scientist Haripriya Saketpuram Makes History on KBC
Haripriya Saketpuram, a seasoned scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), made history as the first female ISRO scientist to appear on the popular Indian game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). The 17th season of the show, hosted by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, premiered on August 11.
On August 28, Saketpuram graced the hot seat, having successfully navigated the show's fastest finger first round. With more than 15 years of experience in India's space research programs, she was no stranger to the challenge. However, the journey proved to be as daunting as her work at ISRO.
Saketpuram, who has contributed to both Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan projects, shared insights about her career and family during her appearance. Her winnings climbed to ₹12.5 lakhs, but the ₹25 lakh question proved to be a stumbling block.
The question that forced Saketpuram to quit was: "According to the autobiography of Paramahansa Yogananda, which fruit did he suggest to Mahatma Gandhi and send some plants from California to Wardha?"
Initially, Saketpuram believed the answer was "Avocado." However, there is no publicly available information indicating that Yogananda suggested or sent a specific type of fruit to Gandhi in his autobiography or as a gift in California. Despite her initial confidence, Saketpuram decided not to risk the sum she had already won and chose to leave the show.
Despite not winning the full ₹25 lakhs, Saketpuram's appearance on KBC is a testament to her intelligence and achievements in the field of space research. Her journey serves as an inspiration to many, especially young women aspiring to make a mark in science and technology.
