The Lafayette Leopards kicked off their 2025 football season with a thrilling 42-26 victory over the Stonehill Skyhawks on September 6, 2025. The game, played at Fisher Stadium in Easton, Pennsylvania, marked the beginning of an exciting season for the Lafayette College team, who compete in the Patriot League.
Lafayette's running game was on fire, with Kente Edwards leading the charge. Edwards rushed for a total of 127 yards and scored three touchdowns, including runs of 4 yards and 2 yards within the first 16 minutes of play, giving Lafayette an early 14-0 lead. Jason Penza and Dean DeNobile also contributed to the team's rushing attack, scoring touchdowns of 29 yards and 1 yard, respectively. Ethan Weber added another touchdown, rushing for 36 yards. In total, Lafayette amassed an impressive 319 yards rushing.
Dean DeNobile also showed his versatility, passing for 132 yards for Lafayette.
Stonehill's offense was not without its highlights. Quarterback O'Connell attempted 35 passes, completing 25 of them for 269 passing yards. He also threw three touchdown passes, with Richard Mosley III scoring one of them on a 90-yard scoop-and-score. However, the Skyhawks ended the game with a record of 0-2.
The game was not decided until late in the third quarter, with Lafayette leading Stonehill 35-6. Despite Mosley III's heroics, the Skyhawks were unable to mount a comeback, and Lafayette secured the victory.
