Kentucky experiences notable job growth, breaking records according to the April report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
In April 2025, Kentucky witnessed a remarkable surge in employment and job fills, setting new records for each of the monthly metrics.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics' April report, the number of people employed in Kentucky reached an all-time high of 2,009,018. This represented an increase of 2,550 from the previous month.
The number of filled jobs also saw a significant boost, reaching a record high of 2,052,400. This figure marked an increase of 400 from March 2025.
Governor Andy Beshear hailed these records as good news for families and attractive to companies investing in Kentucky. He stated, "More people are being employed, and more jobs are being filled in Kentucky."
The Governor also highlighted the role of programs like the Bluegrass State Skills Corp. (BSSC) in connecting Kentucky employees with skills training opportunities. Over 11,700 Kentuckians will receive skills training through BSSC.
Notably, various companies across the state received workforce training support this month. Approximately 10,000 employees at Ford Motor Co.'s Fern Valley Road and Chamberlain Lane locations in Louisville, 269 employees at Steel Technologies, 273 trainees at Highlands Diversified Services in London, and 209 workers at F&E Aircraft Maintenance in Erlanger all received such support.
However, there are no available search results indicating which companies in Kentucky received support from BSSC for training measures in April 2025.
In addition, 121 trainees at Amneal Pharmaceuticals in Glasgow also received workforce training support this month.
Kentucky's civilian labor force also reached a record high of 2,118,333 in April 2025, marking an increase of 752 individuals from March 2025.
Governor Beshear expressed his optimism about these records, stating that they are good news for families and attractive to companies investing in Kentucky. He further emphasised the importance of continuing to support workforce development and training initiatives to maintain this positive trend.
