Kenya's Harambee Stars Shine at CHAN 2024, Securing Sh210 Million Incentive

Kenya's national football team, Harambee Stars, has been making waves in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The team's impressive performance has not only captured the attention of football fans across the continent but also secured them a significant financial incentive.

The collective figure of Sh210 million is the reward pledged by Kenya's President, William Ruto, for a squad of 42 players if they win the tournament. According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed, over 60% of the team's success is directly related to President Ruto's motivation and incentives.

The journey began on August 3, when Harambee Stars stunned two-time champions DR Congo with a solitary goal at Kasarani. This victory set the tone for the team's campaign, which saw them finish top and unbeaten in the preliminaries, collecting 10 points in four games.

One of the team's most notable victories came against Morocco on August 10, a triumph that was followed by a meeting with President Ruto. The win not only kept Harambee Stars' dream alive but also delivered on their promise to the Head of State.

The team's resilience was tested against Angola, when they were reduced to 10 men. Despite this setback, Harambee Stars managed to draw the match, a testament to their determination and strong mentality.

In their latest match against Zambia's Chipolopolo on August 17, Harambee Stars held their nerve to seal their place at the top of the group with a single goal difference. President Ruto has pledged two-bedroom apartments to the team if they win the quarterfinals against Madagascar on August 22.

The players now expect Sh5 million each from the three wins and one draw, totaling Sh210 million, an astronomical incentive rarely seen in Kenyan football. According to FKF President Hussein Mohammed, the revenue incentives are key, and the players are looking forward to delivering in this CHAN.

The promise of rewards and Ruto's presence around the team have transformed the national side's mentality, according to FKF President Hussein Mohammed. Nobody can contradict President William Ruto's promise, as he has been giving out rewards immediately after the game, according to the FKF President.

As Harambee Stars prepare for their next match, the nation is behind them, cheering them on towards their goal of winning the CHAN 2024 tournament and securing the Sh210 million incentive.
