Kimberly Williams-Paisley Shares Journey with Vocal Disorder and Promise from Son

Actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, best known for her role in "Father of the Bride," has shared a poignant story about her struggle with a vocal disorder that left her unable to speak for two years. The actress opened up about her experience in April 2025, revealing that the disorder occurred suddenly while she was on stage giving a speech.

In the early 2000s, Williams-Paisley experienced the sudden onset of the vocal disorder, causing a dramatic change in her life and leading to a period of embarrassment. The disorder left her without her voice for two years, a challenging period that she found difficult to navigate.

During this time, Williams-Paisley underwent a procedure to treat the disorder, which took place in August 2024. The actress was awake during the three-hour surgery, and she learned about the procedure's progress through a video screen above her head.

Through this experience, Williams-Paisley learned the strength and beauty of silence. She healed emotional wounds and started taking better care of her body. The actress shared her struggles with the disorder on Instagram, posting a note titled "com visit me in calij" that her son had written when he was 7 years old. The note promised that he would visit her when he moved away for college, featuring many misspelled words that Williams-Paisley shared with the caption "I promes I promes I promes ❤️💪🏻😭."

Williams-Paisley and her husband, country singer Brad Paisley, share two children: Huck, who is starting his freshman year of college this year, and son Jasper Warren, who is 16 years old. The actress's struggles with her vocal disorder have undoubtedly been a challenging journey, but her resilience and determination to share her story serve as an inspiration to many.
