Kiwi Rent-A-Car introduces innovative 'straight-to-vehicle' technology via Avis app service
Avis, a leading name in the travel industry, is revolutionising the rental-car experience in New Zealand with the introduction of its contactless pick-up service named "Straight-to-Car." This service, already available at various airports across the country, aims to provide a more convenient and contactless rental-car experience that matches the ease and speed travellers now expect.
The Straight-to-Car service is now available at airports in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Rotorua, Wellington (and Wellington city), Nelson, Picton, Blenheim, Christchurch, and Invercargill. From August 18, customers in Napier, Tauranga, and Dunedin can also enjoy this service. As for Queenstown and New Plymouth, the service will be available from September 1 and September 8, respectively.
To take advantage of this service, customers must be Avis Preferred members, a free-to-join programme. The service requires customers to have the Avis App on their cellphone. With the app, customers can choose their car and, if necessary, swap the car assigned to a different model instantly. The new selection updates immediately, ensuring a seamless experience.
The Straight-to-Car service operates by allowing customers to bypass the rental counter. Upon arrival, customers receive a notification on their phone with the location of their car. The technology used in the service is similar to that used by car-sharing services for unlocking and starting modern cars with a cellphone.
Avis Preferred Straight-to-Car pick-up is the New Zealand-first contactless pickup service in the mainstream rental-car industry. It is designed to provide a more convenient and contactless rental-car experience, making travel easier and more efficient for customers.
