The Klausmann Reopens: A New Era for a Beloved Bensberg Guesthouse
After a thorough renovation, the Bensberg guesthouse Klausmann is set to reopen at the end of August, marking a new chapter for the beloved local establishment.
The new Klausmann boasts a high-quality renovated building equipped with state-of-the-art technology. Chef Alexander Brings and Tobias Bormes, who have previously worked at the Irish Pub in Schildgen and the Cafe Extrablatt, will be in charge of the kitchen, promising a delightful culinary experience.
The kitchen is already undergoing test runs, with the venue aiming to be ready by August 28. The menu, while still confidential, will include Klausmann classics such as currywurst, Klausmann burger, meatball, Bergische potato soup, flammekueche, and veal schnitzel. The lunch menu, available Wednesdays to Fridays and Sundays, features dishes priced between 10 and 15 euros.
Schmidt, the kindergarten teacher who owns the Klausmann, emphasizes family-friendliness. Tables and chairs, while new, are in the old style, and the society rooms on the first floor offer a familiar atmosphere with red walls and an open wooden beam ceiling.
The Klausmann will not accept reservations for the first weekend, but tables in the indoor area can be booked afterwards. The garden seating is first come, first served. The large beer garden has been completely redesigned and can stay open until midnight, depending on the guests.
A pre-opening event will take place on August 29, primarily for the involved craftsmen, and the new Klausmann will officially open on August 30 with a summer festival. The popular Klausmann concerts are set to resume at the new Klausmann next year.
The old wooden counter and back wall have been carefully restored, adding a touch of history to the modernised venue. The new Klausmann's kitchen has been expanded to a spacious and modern restaurant kitchen.
The Klausmann will be closed on Monday and Tuesday. Kitchen hours are from Wednesday to Friday until 9:30 PM, on Friday and Saturday until 10 PM, and on Sunday until 8 PM. On August 29, Klaus-Dieter Klausmann, the last real Klausmann, will celebrate his 80th birthday at the Klausmann.
Schmidt has hired more than 30 people to staff the Klausmann, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all guests. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, the new Klausmann promises to be a must-visit destination in Bensberg.
