New Chief Conductor for Bruckner Orchestra Linz Announced

Christoph Koncz is set to take over as Chief Conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz in September 2027. The news of his appointment has been met with enthusiasm, with Upper Austria Governor Thomas Stelzer describing Koncz as an "absolute top conductor."

Koncz's international reputation and extensive experience are expected to further advance the artistic development of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. Prior to his tenure, there is no detailed public information available about his interim career activities or roles.

In a parallel development, Vladimir Jurowski, the current General Music Director at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, has extended his contract until 2029. Jurowski's decisive contribution to the artistic development and international profiling of the Staatsoper has been widely recognised.

Koncz will succeed Markus Poschner as the chief conductor of the Bruckner Orchestra Linz. In addition to his role with the orchestra, Koncz will also become the music director of the Landestheater Linz from September 2027.

Jurowski's tenure at the Bavarian State Opera has been marked by significant achievements, and his extension is a testament to his continued contribution to the opera house.

Koncz's ambition is to establish the Bruckner Orchestra as a leading ensemble outside Vienna. His appointment is seen as a significant step towards achieving this goal, and the music community eagerly awaits the start of his tenure in September 2027.
