Korean Expo in Paris Blends Traditions, Strengthens Vietnam-Korea Ties
The Association Mes Amis (AMA) recently organised a Korean Expo in Paris, honouring Korean culture and fostering cultural exchange. The event, attended by prominent figures including the Vietnamese Ambassador to France and AMA President Ju Hee Jeong, showcased performances that blended traditional and contemporary elements from both Vietnam and Korea.
The event, held on October 4, featured a variety of performances that highlighted the festive spirit of the Vietnamese New Year. The T'rưng bamboo xylophone, a traditional instrument from Vietnam's Central Highlands, was among the highlights. The expo also honoured Korean culture, with performances that combined traditional and contemporary elements, such as the evocative Đất Nước Lời Ru and the soulful sound of the monochord đàn bầu. A moving rendition of Onara in a Vietnamese-Korean fusion style also captivated the audience.
The event was organised by AMA in collaboration with local authorities. Su A Lee, AMA Vice President, expressed that inviting Vietnamese artists reflected the association's close ties with the Vietnamese community in France and its aspiration to deepen cultural exchange between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea. Meritorious Artist Tăng Thanh Sơn, Vice Director of the Vietnamese Cultural Centre in France, noted that such international exchanges are valuable opportunities to showcase national cultural identity and strengthen friendship with global partners.
