The OncoRun, an annual running event in support of the Essen Cancer Advisory Center, took place on Saturday in the beautifully blooming Grugapark. This year's event was a staple of the Essen running calendar, attracting participants of all ages and abilities.

One of the long-time participants, Rolf Wieseler from TC Kray 1892 e.V., has been participating in the OncoRun for several years. This year, he chose the 10km option, allowing him to enjoy the scenic route through the park four times.

The OncoRun course, organised by OncoRun e.V. and TLV Germania Überruhr e.V., winds through the Grugapark, offering participants a chance to appreciate the park's natural beauty. The 2.5km course is suitable for both walking and running, making it accessible for everyone.

Rolf Wieseler, who particularly enjoys charity events, was very pleased with his performance at this year's OncoRun. He completed the course in a time of 1:32:10 and shared that he had a great time at the event.

The success of the OncoRun is not possible without the help of many volunteers. Their dedication ensures that the event runs smoothly and raises much-needed funds for the Essen Cancer Advisory Center.

The primary goal of the OncoRun is to raise funds for the Essen Cancer Advisory Center, which is a vital organisation in the fight against cancer. The centre provides advice and support to cancer patients, as well as conducting research to improve cancer treatments.

The OncoRun event offers participants various options, including a 10km run, as well as shorter distances for those who prefer a more leisurely pace. The event is open to everyone, regardless of their running ability, making it an inclusive and welcoming event for all.

Rolf Wieseler, who has been a regular participant in the OncoRun for several years, expressed his appreciation for the event and its cause. He plans to continue supporting the OncoRun in the future, as it is a great way to enjoy a run while making a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
