Kylie Minogue brings joy spanning decades, performing at the Sports Palace
Pop icon Kylie Minogue returned to Mexico City last Friday, performing at the Palacio de los Deportes as part of her Tension World Tour. The concert, which lasted for about two hours, featured around 22 songs and a mix of hits from various stages of Minogue's illustrious career.
The evening began with the first song played from her latest album, Tension II, titled "Lights camera action." Minogue's performance was captivating, and one of the memorable moments was captured in photos and published on our website.
During the concert, Minogue wore an impressive Mexican rose on stage, and during the performance of "Confide in me" and "Slow," she donned a dress in the colours of the Mexican flag. The audience, which was mostly made up of millennials, also included younger fans who discovered Minogue through the song "Padam Padam" on TikTok.
One of the highlights of the concert was when Minogue made her way through the crowd to a B-stage and performed "Hold On To Now." Another noteworthy moment was when a fan was chosen to have a song dedicated to them, with the selected song being a fragment of Minogue's duet with Nick Cave, "Where The Wild Roses Grow."
Minogue's set included an acoustic performance of "Say Something" and a disco ball descended during the medley of "Supernova," "Real Groove," "Magic," and "Where Does The DJ Go." Minogue also paid homage to her 1987 version of "The Loco-Motion."
The audience was particularly moved when Minogue addressed the audience for the first time after finishing "Come into my world" from Fever in 2001. An intimate atmosphere was created during the concert, with acoustic performances of "I believe in you" and "The One."
The visuals and pre-filmed segments were appropriate, but the Kylie that appears on screen in the middle of the stage during "Shocked" was particularly noteworthy. The concert was less adorned than some of Minogue's more significant events, with the stage often empty and the screens showing close-ups of Minogue.
This was Minogue's reunion with her Mexican audience, her last performance in Mexico being in 2011. Many members of the LGBTIQ+ community were present at the concert. The concert was followed by news about Residente giving a free concert in Mexico City's Zócalo and Shakira possibly performing there as well.
Overall, Kylie Minogue's concert in Mexico City was a memorable event that showcased the pop icon's talent and charisma. Fans who were unable to attend the concert can still relive the experience by checking out the photos that were published on our website.
