Catalyst Cannabis Co. Expands into East Anchorage with Community-Focused Food Court

The fourth location of Catalyst Cannabis Co. has opened its doors in the East Anchorage neighborhood, marking a significant addition to the community. The new location, which was once a bank branch, now serves as a vibrant hub, offering more than just cannabis products.

The grand opening of the new Catalyst Cannabis Co. location was marked by a vendor fair, featuring suppliers from various cities. The event, which included food and drink tenants, offered a sneak peek into the future of the building, which will soon transform into a food court.

In addition to the cannabis shop, the building will house a coffee roaster, juice bar, and a taco stand. El Green-Go's, a popular taco stand with a loyal following from its food truck on L Street, has been recruited to fill a vacant space in the building. The taco shop has signed a ten-year lease, indicating a long-term commitment to the community.

The Russian Jack Community Council initially had concerns about a pot shop being a good neighbor. However, Catalyst Cannabis argued that a taxpaying business is better than an empty hull, and the shop makes the area safer. The new location fills a niche that had been missing, providing a gathering spot for the community.

The former bank branch building also serves as product storage for the new shop. Catalyst Cannabis did construction work to make the space attractive for tenants like El Green-Go's. The vendor market was held outside the shop's disused drive-through lane, adding to the community atmosphere.

Twenty-five booths represent the manufacturers and processors of products sold in Catalyst Cannabis shops. Booths were free to vendors in exchange for a wholesale discount, enabling special pricing inside the store. This move is part of Catalyst Cannabis's strategy to foster a close relationship with its suppliers.

The second decade of legalized marijuana in Alaska sees industry frontrunners graduating to landlord status. Catalyst Cannabis Co. owns multiple properties, including the new East Anchorage location, demonstrating their commitment to the industry and the community.

As for the taco stand moving into the other part of the Catalyst Cannabis Co. building in fall 2025, the name remains undisclosed in the available information. Regardless, the addition of El Green-Go's and the future food court tenants promise to make the area even more active later this year.

The East Anchorage location of Catalyst Cannabis Co. is not just a cannabis shop; it's a community gathering spot, a food court, and a testament to the evolving landscape of the marijuana industry in Alaska.
