The Holy Cross women's basketball team is once again gearing up for a run at the Patriot League Championship, aiming to claim their next title under the leadership of the talented senior quartet of Bronagh Power-Cassidy, Cara McCormack, Janelle Allen, and Callie Wright.

In a survey of over 1,000 Holy Cross male students, it was revealed that most respondents had played a little ball in high school or mostly stopped playing after middle school. However, when asked about the collegiate basketball phenom, Caitlin Clark, approximately 75% of respondents believed they could win a one-on-one match against her. When probed further, responses were overwhelmingly negative when asked if they would actually play against her if given the chance.

Caitlin Clark, a women's collegiate basketball standout from Des Moines, Iowa, has made quite the impression during her time at Iowa State. In her freshman year, she led the NCAA Division I in scoring. Clark's impressive career has earned her the title of national player of the year twice over her junior and senior seasons. Remarkably, she became the all-time leading NCAA Division I scorer for men and women alike.

The Holy Cross women's basketball team has had its fair share of memorable moments. Last spring, they defeated UT Martin in the NCAA Tournament, a victory that no doubt added to the excitement surrounding this year's championship aspirations.

Patrick Grudberg '24 and Logan Gooley '24, sports section editor and staff writer for the Holy Cross athletics section respectively, have been roommates and have experienced Holy Cross sports together over the past four years. They will be joined by Molly Coghan '27, another staff writer for the Holy Cross athletics section, and Ben Franzone '26 and Aiden Konold '26, guest writers and sports editor for the Holy Cross athletics section, in chronicling the team's journey this season.

As the current seniors prepare to depart, the team will be led by head coach Candice Green, with assistant coaches Kat Fogarty and Anita Jennings supporting the team. These coaches will undoubtedly work tirelessly to ensure the team continues to thrive and challenge for the Patriot League Championship.

It's an exciting time for Holy Cross basketball, and as we look forward to the upcoming season, it's worth taking a moment to reminisce about the team's favourite sports moments. Here's to another successful season for the Holy Cross women's basketball team!
