Large sum allocated for road restoration
Passau Announces 1.5 Million Euro Street Maintenance Program for 2025
The city of Passau has announced a significant investment in its street maintenance program for 2025, with a budget of 1.5 million euros. This represents an increase of 200,000 euros from the previous year's budget.
The increased funds will be allocated towards the repair of several streets in the city, including Hagenauer Straße, Carossastraße section II, Von-Rudhart-Straße, Tulpenstraße, Nelkenstraße, Untere Schneckenbergstraße, König-Schalinski-Straße, Fürstenweg, and Pionierstraße, which have been categorized as the first priority in the 2025 street maintenance program.
The budget increase is part of a trend in recent years, with the annual street maintenance program's funds having been increased multiple times. In 2015, the regular funds were permanently increased by 50 percent to 600,000 euros. In 2019, the amount was increased by more than 30 percent to 800,000 euros, and in 2024, it was increased by over 60 percent to 1.3 million euros.
The funds for the "patch asphalt" work of the municipal building yard have also been increased, reflecting the increased needs and costs associated with the program.
The 2025 street maintenance program will consist of ten measures in total. The second priority category includes six measures: Stallerweg, Haitzinger Straße, Giselastraße, Netzerstraße, Prinz-Eugen-Straße, and Vornholzstraße.
The City Council Committee for Construction and Real Estate will discuss the 2025 street maintenance program on January 23, 2025. The meeting to discuss the program was proposed by the administration, but the name of the city building official or the head of the construction advisory commission who discussed the program on January 23, 2025, is not provided in the available search results.
The city of Passau is responsible for streets and paths with a total length of over 400 kilometers. The 2025 street maintenance program is part of the city's ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the city's infrastructure.
