Latin American Countries Set to Receive 500 New Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations by Evinka

In Lima, Peru, Evinka is making significant strides in the electric vehicle (EV) industry by supplying charging infrastructure for a fleet of 19 electric buses. This marks the beginning of a larger expansion plan for the company, which aims to launch operations in Brazil and Mexico by the end of 2025.

Evinka's growth in Peru, however, is not without challenges. One of the main hurdles is the lack of clarity regarding energy billing for charging services. To address this issue, the company plans to change the business model in Peru by focusing on areas where energy costs are lower and offering agreements with car brands to encourage their users to utilize their stations.

Next year, Evinka aims to open at least ten new charging stations, primarily in Lima. Among these new stations, Evinka plans to launch a modular fast charger named "Evinka TurboCharge." This charger will have an initial capacity of 20 kilowatts but can be scaled up to 80 kilowatts, making it a versatile solution for various EV needs.

The TurboCharge will be capable of servicing up to four vehicles simultaneously or concentrating the power on a single vehicle. Evinka plans to install its first fast charging station in Peru this year, with the goal of connecting 500 chargers across the three countries by the end of 2025, creating its own charging network.

Currently, Evinka operates chargers in Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Chile, in addition to the seven public charging stations it has in Peru. All of these stations are slow chargers, but the introduction of the TurboCharge will undoubtedly speed up charging times.

One of Evinka's standout products is the Alien X, a Wallbox-type charger that is popular in Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador. The Alien X features WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, in addition to functioning as a public charger due to its CPP system.

In markets where it does not have offices, such as Bolivia and Paraguay, the company works with local representatives or manages after-sales service remotely, training its clients' staff to ensure the proper operation of the chargers. Evinka also ensures that its customers receive quality technical support, with local teams of engineers and technicians in Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and Chile.

Despite the progress, high fixed fees charged for charger ownership, even if the infrastructure is used little, remain a major issue in Peru. Evinka plans to invest around three million dollars in total for the installation of both fast and slow public charging stations to address this concern.

In Lima, only two of the approximately six charging stations are operational. However, with Evinka's expansion plans, this number is expected to grow significantly, making electric vehicle charging more accessible to the Peruvian public. This expansion to Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of the EV industry in South America.
