Law Enforcement Agencies Collaborate in Arresting Suspected ATM Bombers: ZeOS NRW and Polizei Düsseldorf announce joint success in apprehending alleged perpetrators of explosive ATM crimes across Europe.

The Düsseldorf Police, in collaboration with ZeOS NRW, have been at the helm of a cross-border investigation into a group of suspected ATM bombers, following an explosion in Solingen in 2024. This investigation has since expanded to include incidents in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.

The initial explosion in Solingen, as well as five subsequent incidents in Bottrop, Ennigerloh, Medebach, Gänserndorf, and Neusiedl am See, were linked to a criminal network. DNA evidence secured at the Solingen ATM explosion was traced back to a person living in the Netherlands.

The suspects made off with a significant sum of money and caused substantial property damage in all the incidents. Four individuals have been arrested so far: two Dutch nationals aged 28 and 32, a 19-year-old German national from Bochum, and another 25-year-old Dutch national. The 19-year-old suspect from Bochum, though not named in the provided sources, is known to be involved in a case of international ATM robberies.

Extensive evidence was found and secured during search warrants executed in Bochum and 's-Hertogenbosch. The two Dutch nationals were arrested in Austria on August 19, 2025, after an ATM explosion in Hofkirchen.

Europol has provided extensive support to the law enforcement agencies of Germany, the Netherlands, and Austria in this investigation. The investigations, specifically the evaluation of evidence found, are currently ongoing.

It is important to note that until a final conviction, the accused are considered innocent according to the law. For inquiries (exclusively for journalists), the Düsseldorf Police Press Office can be contacted at 0211-870 2005 and 0211-870 2008.
