Law enforcement agencies seek an unidentified loan shark on charges of financial deceit
In a recent development, the Celle Police Department is investigating a fraud incident that occurred in Nienhagen, a district of Nienhorst, on Friday, August 29, 2025. The suspect, a young man described as being 18-20 years old, approximately 160-165 cm tall, with a thin build, dark hair, and dressed entirely in black, managed to collect a five-figure sum from an elderly woman under false pretenses.
The suspect was last seen walking eastwards and getting into a presumably grey car in the area of the forest path. Witnesses are asked to contact the Celle Police Department at the telephone number 05141-2770, while those seeking further information can reach out to Ulrike Trumtrar at 05141 277-104 or [email protected].
The authorities warn against being skeptical of calls from people claiming to be public prosecutors, police officers, or other officials demanding money. Fraudsters often use emotional manipulation to force quick decisions. In such cases, it is crucial to remain skeptical and not engage in a conversation with suspicious callers.
Serious institutions do not demand money over the phone and offer alternative payment methods. If something seems off or the situation seems strange, do not hesitate to end the conversation. Do not transfer money or make payments without verifying the situation first. It is also important to avoid giving out personal data such as account information, addresses, or birthdays over the phone.
In connection with such "shock calls," perpetrators are using new methods. The police are particularly concerned about an incident where an unknown man posed as a doctor and called an elderly woman, urgently demanding an expensive medication payment.
To prevent such incidents, the police encourage the public to speak to relatives or trusted persons about suspicious calls. Additionally, it is advisable to talk to relatives, friends, and neighbors about fraud schemes. Taking time to think about the situation before making any decisions is also essential.
The Celle Police Department is looking for witnesses who saw the unknown man and/or can provide information about the car. If you have any information that could help in the investigation, please contact the Celle Police Department at the telephone number 05141-2770.
Remember, if you are unsure about a call or situation, it is always better to be safe than sorry. Report suspicious calls to the local police (Celle Police Department) and do not hesitate to seek advice from trusted sources. Stay vigilant and protect yourself and your loved ones from fraud.
