Bonn Police Seek Suspect in Cash Theft Case
Bonn Police are on the hunt for an unknown suspect who allegedly stole a high three-digit amount of cash from a 19-year-old man on July 7, 2025. The incident occurred at Vivatsgasse, where the suspect approached the victim and claimed his bank card was blocked.
The suspect requested the victim to withdraw cash and hand it over, promising to transfer an equivalent amount via direct transfer. However, no money was deposited into the victim's account after the transaction.
The police have not yet identified the suspect, but photos of the individual are available on the police NRW's wanted portal at https://polizei.nrw/fahndung/177841. Anyone with information about the suspect's identity is asked to contact the investigators at 0228 15-0 or [email protected].
The police advise against using direct transfers for such transactions to protect against this fraud scheme. Be wary of distress stories and don't let yourself be pressured, as fraudsters often use emotional manipulation. Approaching strangers for cash, especially in exchange for a promise of a transfer, is often part of a fraud scheme.
