Law enforcement halts driver under influence in Biebelnheim
A hit-and-run incident took place in Biebelnheim on Friday evening, resulting in a large oil spill and damage to a traffic island and signage at the town's entrance. The incident was initially reported by a traffic participant around 21:30.
Upon arrival, police and a specialized company found a damaged Opel Corsa parked in the middle of the A61 interchange's Bornheim on-ramp. The car had significant damage and a defective oil pan, suggesting it had broken down due to oil loss.
A breathalyzer test conducted on the driver showed a blood alcohol concentration of 1.31%. As a result, the driver's driving license was temporarily revoked. A criminal investigation was initiated against the 24-year-old man, who was identified as the driver in the hit-and-run incident.
Police officers also detected alcohol in the driver's system. A blood sample was taken for further analysis, but no further details about the identity of the driver or the possible involvement of the car in the hit-and-run incident were provided in the report.
The discovery of the damaged car was made by the same witness who reported the initial incident. Police and the specialized company were called to secure the scene and clean the road.
At this time, no additional information about the incident or the identity of the driver is available. The investigation is ongoing.
