Law Enforcement in Broken County Battle Against Primary Traffic Mishaps Caused by Over speeding
In a week-long crackdown, the Traffic Division of the Borken County Police Authority conducted speed checks at 11 locations across the district. A total of 4457 vehicles were examined, resulting in a significant number of speeding violations.
The most egregious speeding violation in the northern part of the district occurred on the L 574 in Heek, where a driver was recorded at an alarming 144 km/h, exceeding the speed limit by 74 km/h. In the southern part of the district, Burloer Straße in Borken saw a driver speeding at 115 km/h, surpassing the speed limit by 45 km/h.
Speeding violations were also recorded on Hamalandstraße in Bocholt-Hemden and Vennstraße in Gronau-Epe. In Bocholt-Hemden, a driver was clocked at 91 km/h on Hamalandstraße, exceeding the speed limit by 41 km/h within the city limits. In Gronau-Epe, a driver was recorded driving significantly slower than the speed limit, at 66 km/h on Vennstraße, where the limit is 50 km/h.
The checks resulted in fines being issued in 154 cases, with warning fines imposed in 531 cases. Six drivers were found to have exceeded the speed limit so severely that they may face potential driving bans.
