Law enforcement in upper Swabia focuses on monitoring speed limits within their jurisdiction.
In a bid to curb excessive speeding on roads, the Police Headquarters Schwaben Nord conducted speed checks across several districts over the weekend. The initiative, aimed at promoting road safety, resulted in over 300 traffic participants being penalized for driving above the speed limit.
On Sunday, August 17, 2025, traffic police in Donauwoerth conducted speed checks on the federal road B25 near Wallerstein. The checks revealed that nearly 120 drivers were speeding, with one driver reaching a staggering speed of 179 km/h, exceeding the permitted maximum speed of 100 km/h. As a result, this driver now faces a fine of 1,400 euros, two points in Flensburg, and a three-month driving ban.
The day before, on Saturday, August 16, 2025, traffic police checked traffic on the district road DLG 7 near Wittislingen. Over 80 traffic participants were criticized for speeding, with one driver reaching a speed of 179 km/h. This driver, like the one in Donauwoerth, now faces a fine of 1,400 euros, two points in Flensburg, and a three-month driving ban.
In Wallerstein, over 90 traffic participants were found driving too fast during the speed checks. One driver reached a speed of 151 km/h, exceeding the permitted maximum speed of 100 km/h. This driver now faces a fine of 320 euros, two points in Flensburg, and a one-month driving ban. Another driver in Wittislingen also reached a speed of 179 km/h, and will face the same penalties as the other speeders.
Excessive or inappropriate speed has been one of the main causes of serious and fatal traffic accidents for years. The police continue to appeal to all road users to observe the permitted maximum speed.
