Gelsenkirchen Police Warn Against Fraudulent Handymen Following Elderly Woman's Defraud
In a recent incident, an 83-year-old woman was defrauded by fake handymen in Erle, Gelsenkirchen. The police are currently investigating the case, which occurred on Spiekermannstraße.
According to the Gelsenkirchen Police, the incident involved two suspects who were approximately 20 to 30 years old, around 1.85 to 1.90 meters tall, and dressed in black. The suspects, who demanded a four-figure sum for a supposed pipe repair, left the residence after receiving the payment. It was later discovered that the blockage in the pipe had not been removed.
The Gelsenkirchen Police strongly warn against such scams by fake handymen. They advise residents not to let themselves be pressured into immediate payment. Instead, always ask for the price of a service and any travel costs beforehand. If possible, make sure the service has been completed before paying.
