Law enforcement officers captured two burglars following a raid on an industrial facility
In a series of events that unfolded over the past week, the Dortmund Police have made several arrests in connection with two separate incidents involving theft and escape.
On the night of Monday, 8th September, two suspects made off with high-value construction machinery and equipment from a yard of Dortmund's street maintenance department in Brennaborstraße. The stolen equipment remains missing as of the time of this report.
In a related incident, on the following Sunday (7th September) at around 7 p.m., a 59-year-old man from Dortmund was arrested by the Dortmund police at a recycling center on Lindberghstraße. He was found in the area of electronic scrap and taken to the police station for identification before being released, with investigations ongoing.
The subsequent events took place on Monday evening. The police arrested a 39-year-old driver of a car near Steinhammerstraße. The getaway car, an unregistered vehicle with stolen license plates, was spotted on a nearby company premises. The driver's identity could not be clarified on site, and he was taken to Huckarde police station.
According to reports, the two suspects, during their escape, apparently continued on foot near Steinhammerstraße. In the ensuing chase, the 41-year-old Dortmund resident, who was with the driver, was also arrested near Steinhammerstraße. Both suspects had scratch injuries and torn clothing, suggesting they had run through thorny bushes during their escape.
The driver of the getaway car did not have a valid driver's license. The police secured the stolen construction equipment, devices found in the vehicle, and a mobile phone. After his identity was established, the arrested individual was released.
The arrested individual was found in the area of electrical waste, and the suspects' getaway vehicle was located on a company premises. The investigation into these incidents is ongoing.
