In a chilling incident that occurred on Friday, December 6th, an attempted fraud took place around 10:30 AM on Hummerich street in Niederkassel, Germany. The perpetrators, who are yet to be identified, are being sought by the Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters.

The scam, known as the "False Police Officers" scam, involves strangers attempting to gain entry into homes. In this case, the victim was a senior citizen who did not open the door but spoke to the suspects through a kitchen window. The suspects tried to pressure the homeowner into letting them into her house, but she remained skeptical and did not comply.

The suspects claimed to be police officers and presented green-blue badges. However, it is crucial to carefully check the IDs of any unknown individuals claiming to be police officers. If unsure, contact your local police station immediately. Do not share personal information or details about your assets.

The suspects can be described as approximately 25 years old, with dark hair, well-groomed appearance, and possibly of southern origin. One suspect was wearing a grey coat, while the other wore a dark winter jacket. After the incident, they fled in the direction of Rheidt.

A nearby resident passing by caused the suspects to leave the area. If anyone has information about the suspects, they are asked to contact the police at 02241 541-3221. It is advised not to let strangers into your home. Keep unknown individuals outside your closed door. Do not let yourself be pressured.

Elderly people are often targeted by such scams, so talk to older relatives and acquaintances to raise awareness. If you encounter a similar situation, do not give in to demands for money or valuables. For further inquiries, contact the Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters Press Office at 02241/541-2222 or email [email protected]. Stay vigilant and safe.
