Leapmotor is readying to display the B05 model at a motor exhibition in Munich, according to recent reports.

In the ever-evolving world of electric vehicles, Leapmotor is making waves with its upcoming release, the B05. This compact hatchback, set to debut at the IAA Mobility Show in Munich from September 9-14, 2025, is expected to revolutionise the electric mobility market.

Leapmotor, a Chinese automobile brand, has confirmed its entry into the Volkswagen Golf size segment with the B05. The vehicle will boast an aerodynamic silhouette and full-width light bars front and rear, inspired by its sibling, the B10.

In New Zealand, Leapmotor vehicles are distributed by Auto Distributors New Zealand (ADNZ), part of the Armstrong Motor Group. The most affordable Leapmotor currently available in the country is the C10 Style REEV, priced at $49,990 before on-road costs, though a $5000 cash-back offer brings this down to a more affordable $44,990.

The B05, like the B10 and B01, will be based on the 'Leap 3.5' platform. While the pricing for the B05 hasn't been confirmed yet, it could be under £30,000 (NZ$69,000) in the UK.

The B05 is expected to be rear-wheel drive with electric powertrains and lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs that operate on an 800V electrical architecture. A range-extender (REEV) powertrain option may become available for the B05 in the future, as it was recently confirmed for the B10.

Inside the B05, a 14.6-inch touchscreen multimedia system is expected, similar to the B10. The B10 small SUV will serve as a base for the forthcoming entry-level crossover, named the A10.

Leapmotor currently has seven vehicles in its global line-up, ranging from tiny city cars to large seven-seat SUVs. However, no further details about the Leapmotor A05 and A10 have been confirmed yet.

Stellantis, the multinational automobile manufacturing corporation, holds a 21% share in Leapmotor and a 51% stake in Leapmotor International, which conducts all activities for the brand outside China. This partnership extends beyond China, with Stellantis' ownership of Leapmotor International.

The A05, a lower-riding sibling of the B05, is expected to be a closer rival to the BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora. More details about this model are expected to be revealed in due course.

As we approach the debut of the B05 at the IAA Mobility Show, the anticipation for this innovative electric vehicle continues to grow. Leapmotor is poised to make a significant impact in the electric mobility market with the B05, offering a stylish, affordable, and eco-friendly option for consumers.
