Library Hours and Welcome Festivities for Fall 2025
Syracuse University students and their families can look forward to extended library hours and a series of events during the Fall 2025 semester. Here's a rundown of the library opening times and upcoming events.
Library Opening Hours
The College of Law Library will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, and will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
Bird Library will offer a 24-hour service on its lower level to 2nd floor, closing at 10 p.m. on Friday and reopening at 10 a.m. on Sunday. Floors 3 to 5 of Bird Library will be open from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to midnight on Sunday.
King + King Architecture Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Carnegie Library will be open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, and noon to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The details of the regular hours can be found at library.syracuse.edu/hours/. Unfortunately, there are no specific search results detailing the extended opening hours of the 6th floor of the Bird Library and the Special Collections Research Center for the week of August 24 to August 7.
Upcoming Events
On August 20 and 21 from noon to 4 p.m. each day, the Libraries will host a Family Lounge outside of Bird Library and Carnegie Library. Students and their families are invited to take a break from moving into residence halls to learn about the Libraries. Snacks and beverages will be provided, as well as Libraries information, and library tours will be available by request.
On August 20 from 2 to 4 p.m., a Pre-Welcome Resource Fair will take place in Bird Library. All students are invited to attend, an open house-style event with tables highlighting the many offerings of the Libraries, several partners, and other campus departments.
Book Club Meetups will be held in Bird Library on August 22 from 10 a.m.-noon and 2 to 4 p.m., and August 23 from 10 a.m. to noon.
Welcome Fest, an open house-style event with tables highlighting the many offerings of the Libraries, several partners, and other campus departments, will take place in Bird Library's 1st floor on Sept. 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students can stop by to participate in raffles, snacks, and a "passport" activity encouraging participants to visit all tables at Welcome Fest.
Syracuse University Libraries' Fall 2025 regular hours will start on Aug. 25 and end on Dec. 16. We hope these hours and events will make your academic journey a little smoother and more enjoyable!
