Linux-Based Wind River System Equipped with NVIDIA Jetson for Artificial Intelligence Applications

At this year's NVIDIA GTC event, Wind River is demonstrating a groundbreaking solution for real-time object recognition in dashcam videos, combined with the NVIDIA Jetson platform. This innovative system, showcased from March 18-21 at Wind River's booth #140, aims to improve AI model accuracy and optimize latency for future applications.

Wind River Linux, the embedded industry's leading and most advanced Linux platform, offers high stability and security, ensuring robust and secure embedded solutions. The combination of Wind River Linux and NVIDIA Jetson provides a CUDA-optimized solution that promises to deliver a foundational shift, empowering developers to rapidly create new innovations in AI and machine learning.

The Yocto Project-based Wind River Linux and NVIDIA Jetson OrinTM offer a scalable, power-efficient performance required for building software-defined autonomous machines and breakthrough edge AI solutions. This combination has been tested in a complex environment, demonstrating high accuracy in detecting various elements in a live traffic situation, including multiple cars and a pedestrian.

The AI-powered object detection system was tested using custom input videos provided by users from their personal dashcams. Key highlights from the image analysis include the system's ability to provide varying confidence levels for different cars. The commercially supported Yocto Project-based Linux solution can be leveraged for any AI application with data models running on NVIDIA Jetson across multiple mission-critical applications.

The system's effectiveness is validated using footage from a user's dashcam, a step towards ensuring its reliability in everyday scenarios. This solution can significantly enhance the safety and efficiency of urban mobility by providing high levels of precision for AI-driven object identification on the road.

In addition to the dashcam solution, Yaskawa is demonstrating an industrial robot using AI technology to make judgements and automate movements in unstructured environments, in conjunction with Wind River Linux and Jetson.

NVIDIA Jetson provides a modern AI stack, production-ready ROS packages, and application-specific AI workflows for edge AI, embedded, and robotics applications. This versatile platform is instrumental in powering the AI-powered dashcam and industrial robot solutions.
