'Linz Marathon is undeniably my peak experience!'
The city of Linz, Austria, will host the 23rd Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon on April 12th and 13th, 2023. This annual event, held along the Danube River, is set to break participation records this year with an estimated 19,000 participants.
The marathon starts at 9:30 AM on the Voest-Autobahn bridge. Elite runners are expected to finish by 11:38 AM for the men's race and 11:56 AM for the women's race. The event will feature nine main competitions, three starting points, and four additional categories, making it a diverse and engaging event for runners of all levels.
The Generali 5K, starting at 8:45 AM at the Lentos Art Museum, height of Generali Building, is a shorter option for those who wish to participate. The LINZ AG Quarter Marathon, starting at 8:30 AM on the same bridge, and the Fischer Brot Inline Skating Half Marathon, starting at 8:02 AM, offer more challenging distances.
For those participating in the marathon, bib pick-up and late registrations will be held at TipsArena from April 11th to 12th. The Hyundai Relay Marathon and the Ascendor Handbike Half Marathon, starting at 9:30 AM and 8:00 AM respectively on the Voest-Autobahn bridge, provide opportunities for teamwork and adaptive sports participation.
The Kids race in the ÖGK Junior Marathon powered by ORF Radio OÖ is scheduled for 15:10 on April 12th in Donaupark Linz. The ÖGK Junior Marathon, starting from 12h in Donaupark Linz on the same day, allows younger participants to join in the fun.
The finish line for all running events is at Hauptplatz Linz, while the finish line for rolling events is at Phönix Theater. The event will conclude with the Opening Family Party powered by LINZ AG, starting at 12:00 on April 12th in Donaupark Linz.
This year, the marathon sets a new participation record with 1,667 registrations. Twenty-one international top athletes, including five peace runners, aim to break the course record. The new Mayor of Linz, Dietmar Prammer, will participate as a relay runner.
