Literature Festival Held in Saalekreis District
The 15th Saalekreis Literature Days are set to take place from September 17 to November 29, 2025, and promises an engaging and diverse programme for literature enthusiasts.
The event will kick off with the "Lesekrone 2025" reading competition at the library in Teutschenthal on September 17, 2025. Notable authors such as Jürgen Jankofsky and Brigitte Schniggenfittig will participate in related literary events, including musical readings and interactive language sessions. Additionally, Almuth Schulz and Anton Masie will collaborate on a musical-literary event focused on Friedrich Holländer's songs.
Crime enthusiasts can look forward to crime readings featuring Bernhard Spring and the island crime novel "Ellersegen" by Tim Herden. For those with wanderlust, Nils Wiesner will offer events showcasing experiences of the Himalayas and a Gokyo Ri hiking tour.
The Paul Bartsch Trio will perform a fairytale-like song program at "Your Library Day - Case File BibX", which will also feature a musical-culinary reading by Jürgen R. Naumann. Jörg Gräser, known from the MDR series "Elephant, Tiger & Co.", will share animal stories on November 7 in Braunsbedra.
Prominent figures from politics, culture, and business will read during the "Vorlesetag" (Reading Day) on November 21 throughout Saalekreis. The event will also include travel reports, interactive activities, and literary evenings with music and enjoyment.
On October 8, Judith Rakers will share tips on home farming and self-sufficiency without a green thumb at the Merseburg Town Hall. The nationwide "Vorlesetag" will take place on November 21 throughout Saalekreis.
The event will culminate with the opening of the special exhibition "For little dreamers and explorers. Illustrated children's books (1900 - 1930 from the Hartmann / Kubis collection)" at the Cultural-Historical Museum Schloss Merseburg on November 29. "Your Library Day - Case File BibX" will occur at the Merseburg City Library on the same day.
