Get ready, Vault Hunters! Gearbox Software has unveiled the roadmap for their highly anticipated title, Borderlands 4, set to launch on September 12, 2025. The game promises a steady stream of new content, comparable to live service games like PvE The First Descendant.

The game will welcome Invincible Boss I, a new invincible boss, new legendary weapons, and an Ultimate Vault Hunter mode level, all available for free. Additionally, a Seasonal Mini-Event, Horror of Kairos, will also be available for free, featuring new Legendary weapons, cosmetics, and a weather variant.

Deluxe and Paid Additions

For those who opt for the Deluxe edition, they'll gain access to Story Pack I, which includes a new vault hunter, main story missions, new Cosmetics - 4 heads, 4 weapon skins, 2 vehicle skins, 3 drone skins, 1 Echo-4 frame. Bounty Pack I, a paid addition, will also be available in Q4 2025, offering new missions, bosses, legendary gear, a Vault Card with 24 cosmetics, and 4 pieces of rerollable gear. Bounty Pack 2, included in the Deluxe edition, will provide similar content, along with a new vault hunter style, ECHO-4 drone skin, and vehicle.

Roadmap Beyond Q2 2026

The roadmap for Borderlands 4 extends into 2026, with post-Q2 releases including Bounty packs 3 and 4, Story pack 2, and more Invincible bosses. However, Gearbox has not yet revealed any details about Story-Packs scheduled to be released after Q2 2026.

No Live Service Model

Contrary to popular trends, Gearbox has confirmed that Borderlands 4 is not going live service, ensuring a focused and cohesive gaming experience for players.

The content offerings for Borderlands 4 are extensive, providing many reasons to keep playing as they roll out. So, mark your calendars for September 12, 2025, and get ready to embark on a new Vault Hunter adventure!
