The program for this event includes works by Albert Hay Malotte, Felix Mendelssohn, Claude Debussy, Leoš Janáček, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Steven Banks, and Reena Esmail.
The following week, on September 14 at 1pm EDT, the hall will host a unique event: a marathon from Oberlin to Warsaw for the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition.
In a significant development, seven Oberlin student and alumni performers will participate in the Chopin Competition in Warsaw next month. However, it's worth noting that there are no search results specifically listing the musicians participating in the Competition who are all students of Professor Dang Thai Son.
The competition auditions will begin on October 2 and continue through October 20. The winner of the Competition will receive a gold medal and a First Prize of 60,000 euros.
The program for the September 14 event includes performances by Kai-Min Chang '23, Yubo Deng '25, Chun Lam U '25, Hanyuan Zhu, Athena Deng '25, Arisa Onoda, and Ziye Tao. Each performer has a specific set of Chopin pieces they will perform.
For those unable to attend these events in person, there's good news! The events will be streamed live at concert time. Please note that the event feed is currently not active; users are advised to try again closer to the event start time. Also, it's important to remember that visitors to the conservatory are asked to enter through either Bibbins Hall's east entrance or the Conservatory Lounge's west entrance. All other entrances will be closed to the public.
Lastly, it's worth mentioning that all the performers in these upcoming events are students of Professor Dang Thai Son.
