Livestock farming: Focus on sheep and goat production during September
Prepare for an exciting month ahead as several events celebrating agriculture, farming, and sustainable living are set to take place in the region. From farm tours to wool festivals, there's something for everyone.
Firstly, the Transparent Production event at Geflügelhof Giek is a must-visit. This September, Transparent Production offers apprentice tours titled "Discovering how a plant is created". Alongside these tours, Geflügelhof Giek has recently added farm experience days for children and school class visits to their range of offers. The festival at Geflügelhof Giek begins with a service at 10 am, and food will be provided by the Evangelical Church in Möglingen. The children's program promises excitement and entertainment.
The 60th anniversary of the Hoffest Geflügelhof Giek is also a highlight this September. Food and drink will be provided, featuring Bottwartal lamb and wine. Transparent Production at Geflügelhof Giek includes farm tours, field tours, and information and tasting stands for their own and partner products. An information stand about diseases and pests in the garden will be available, provided by the fruit and vegetable advisory service of the Ludwigsburg district administration.
Meanwhile, the Wool Festival is another event not to be missed. This festival offers a sensory experience, including a festival service at 10:10 am on Sunday and a daily sheep market starting at 11 am. Demonstrations at the Wool Festival will include shearing, spinning, weaving, felting, a wool touch path, and opportunities to watch and pet sheep, alpacas, and goats. The Wool Action from Gronau collects wool from sheep farmers and processes it into various end products.
Lastly, Haüssermann Stauden+Gehölze is inviting visitors to their nursery during the Transparent Production event in September. The Open Door Day at Haüssermann Stauden+Gehölze will take place at CampoVerde and the nursery. Visitors can browse through the sales assortment at leisure or seek specific advice. This year marks 99 years of operation and the handover to the fourth generation for Haüssermann Stauden+Gehölze, making their Open Door Day a special occasion.
Moreover, the name of the organizer of the Transparent Production event in September, besides Häussermann Stauden+Gehölze, is the Malzfabrik. The Malzfabrik hosts the AckerFestival focused on sustainable futures on September 10-11, 2025. Transparent Production features 99 new plant varieties for presentation.
These events offer a fantastic opportunity to learn, engage, and celebrate agriculture and sustainable living. So, mark your calendars for September and join in the festivities!
